Canary islands - Global Kite Spots
Canary islands on world map

Wind season: May – September
Air temperature: 23˚C – 28˚C
Water temperature: 20˚C – 24˚C
Wave spots: Yes

The volcanic island group of the Canaries just outside Africa’s West coast is a Spanish overseas territory attracting thousands of European tourists every year. Each island has its particular feel, but for kitesurfing it’s mainly Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and maybe Tenerife’s El Medano that will be of interest. Wave surfing is also decent with European standards. It is windy all year around on the Canary islands but for the most reliable winds and warm weather, aim for May to September.
